Does a figure skater have to first compete in Worlds to be allowed to compete in the Winter Olympics?
To qualify for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, does a singles figure skater have to compete first in the World Figure Skating Championships? If so, is there a rank or position to be met in order to qualify? If not, how many entries can a country enter in the Winter Olympics for this event? And does a country have to be a member of the ISU to be able to compete in the Winter Olympics?
You must be a senior level skater and a member of your countries skating committee (example; Canada = Skate Canada, USA = USFC)
Depending on how the country has done in the past qualifies them for the number of skaters they can send in a category. Also to qualify for your own countries olympic team you must have some experience in International Competition. But ultimately its your countries skating council who decides. Usually they send who they think is the best.
